A Generous Gift Advances Cancer Care in the Magic Valley

A donation of $250,000 through the Curtis T. and Wilma H. Eaton Cancer Center Endowment has allowed the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment for St. Luke’s Mountain States Tumor Institute (MSTI) in Twin Falls.

Thank you to the Curtis H. and Mardo Eaton and Georgina and Don Wolverton families for facilitating this generous gift. The treatment, called brachytherapy, improves the accuracy and results of treatment and reduces severe side effects. The procedure is also more cost-effective. The new equipment means doctors can now treat cancers they were not able to treat previously, providing a significant treatment option to physicians and other highly-trained healthcare providers at St. Luke’s MSTI.

The first case with the new machine at St. Luke's MSTI in Twin Falls was for breast cancer in October 2016. Since then, St. Luke's MSTI staff have treated patients for skin, breast, prostate and vaginal cancers.
